Becoming Jewish
Whether you are curious about conversion to Judaism, are already in the process or have BECOME JEWISH, this site is for you! We invite you to use this website as your gateway to Judaism.
Who can become a Jew? Anyone who wishes to take on the obligations of a Jewish life can become a Jew. You can be any age, any race, any gender orientation, and become a Jew.
We are a group of San Francisco Bay Area Jews by Choice sharing information, resources and friendship. We offer our experiences and stories to seekers. We stay in touch via an email list specifically for people who have chosen Judaism. We also have an email list for people who are curious about Judaism and want to explore.
Over 100 Jews by Choice are now on our email list!
Would you like to talk to someone who has already converted? Email us and we'll be happy to offer support.
To take a look at what's going on currently, check out our What's New section. With updates at least once a week, you'll find plenty of fresh and helpful information there.
Don't forget to join our mailing list so you receive our updates and announcements!
We have more Jewish conversion stories up on the website: take a look under Our Conversion Stories.
If you are located outside the United States, we are very sorry, but we cannot help you. Take a look at our Converting Outside the USA page for possible resources.
There's a great JWeekly article that we posted on our Media page that describes just who we are and what we do. Take a look!

Of our two monitors on Becoming Jewish, one is gay and one is straight. Both of us believe in the same values: We believe that anyone should be able to become Jewish, provided they are interested in doing so, no matter their sexual orientation. We have watched Bay Area synagogues become more and more welcoming to the LGBT community over time, and we applaud them!
Thanks for your continued support, and we hope we support you in your quest to find out more about Judaism.
